Week 3

This week we created a mash up of Abraham Lincoln and a picture from our era.

I went to starved rock on our day off with my grandpa, and thought that it would be a really cool place to link up with Abraham Lincoln since Abe was from Illinois, and Starved Rock is a national park that is very important to Illinois.  I took  many pictures of my grandpa around starved rock, and though that the one of him sitting on the fish that has the words Starved Rock underneath it was the perfect picture to mash up with Abe.

I used the picture of my grandpa as the background and cut out Abes face as my second layer.  I had to adjust alot but eventually got his head to fit nicely inside. My most difficult task was learning how to make it look like my grandpas hat was on Abe's head.  By adjusting the opacity and lining up the faces, and then deleting most of Abe's forehead I was able to acheive this goal.

I thought that my concept was a good one by putting Abe at Starved Rock in Illinois, showing a kind of somber, real, message.  My problem came in when I didnt know the history that Abe was against the Indians and would actually want to kill them instead of preserve and commemorate them.  This is going to be how I fix this picture, by bringing in a negative message such as Abe at Starved Rock trying to find black hawk for war.
