Week 7

Assignment:  Write a story including a traveler, someone waiting, and a package.

Concept: We go about our daily lives with our lazy habits not having any idea how our decisions effect other people.

Traveler: UPS man.
Waiter: Business man
Package: Cell Phone

Story:  A business man is impatiently waiting because his cell phone was broken and he was waiting for his replacement that he needed before he drove 20 hours for a business trip.  Unbeknownst to him, UPS is taking there time with the package, putting it off and thinking it is not that important.  Finally the day arrives for him to leave for the trip and he has no choice to do so without a cell phone.  As the man is driving at night of the first day, the UPS man is ringing his doorbell with the package in hand.   As this is happening the business man is startled and goes off into a ditch and down far into a forest and is trapped in his car.  The UPS man hops back in his truck and tosses the "unimportant" cell phone in the back, clueless that that cell phone could have saved the man dying in his cars life had it gotten there a little sooner.  He drives away whistling along to the radio as the business man says his last prayers and closes his eyes.

Assignment: go to Lincoln Birthday Exhibit

Alysha, Alex, a friend who is not in an art class, and I all attended the 200 pieces of Lincoln Art exhibit. We thought it would be a cool experience to see our pieces of artwork hanging in an exhibit and also to see the ideas others have come up with to represent Lincoln.

Although I was bummed that my piece of art was not hanging up here, I did see some other peices that I enjoyed.

My favorite Lincoln Piece was a lamp that i found in the back corner of the exhibit. I was very interesting because it was not hung on the wall but instead could be displayed as a piece of art and a piece of furniture for a room. I liked their use of different pictures to not only see Lincoln in one way but instead in many ways.

My least favorite Lincoln Piece was a poster of a collage of naked men with lincoln's head simply cut out and pasted over them. I thought it was tasteless and would love to talk to the creator and ask them why they did this. The craft of this piece wasn't even good it was childlike, and childish and I really did not like the way they portrayed this American icon.
